Dave Serrano's collegiate baseball coaching career has netted him a long list of awards and achievements. Yet the job descriptions for all head coaches at Cal State Fullerton require a bachelor's degree. Serrano, CSUF's head baseball coach, has a bachelor's degree obtained from a Web site, and CSUF officials are reluctant to address its validity.

"I'm thrilled to be home," Dave Serrano said when he returned after a three-year hiatus at UC Irvine to be Cal State Fullerton's head baseball coach. CSUF administrators say successful coaching and attention to the education of his players qualify him to be head coach more than his bachelor's degree from Trinity College and University.

Steven G. Mihaylo Hall will house the Steven G. Mihaylo College of Business and Economics when it opens in fall 2008. The $30 million donation announced Thursday, January 3 is the largest in Cal State Fullerton history and the fourth largest ever donated to the California State University system.

Off Campus Pub - the combined restaurant, sports bar and dance club on Nutwood Avenue, across the street from the Cal State Fullerton campus - has been sold and will be closing soon. Its closing date is unknown and it is currently in escrow. The restaurant will be completely remodeled and made into a more upscale Mexican restaurant, called Cantina Lounge, with meals in the $9 to $14 range.

Senior Project Manager Stephen Chamberlain said estimated costs of the new 10,470 square foot Cal State Fullerton University Police Facility is just under $5 million. "This is a 40-year-old temporary building," said University Police Chief Judi King about the existing campus police station.

Sirens over-powered street noise as a reported fire destroyed the Taal Cultural Cuisine of India restaurant across the street from Cal State University Fullerton's College Park. "I came out to get the newspapers and saw the fire in the back of building and called 9-1-1," said George Fagin, security officer of College Park.

Despite months of news reports that tainted pet food, harmful toys and other poor quality goods have made their way into U.S. homes, consumers may not notice any difference this holiday shopping season. Four major issues concerning Latinos in education were discussed at the the Chicano Latino Intersegmental Convocation in San Fransisco. Considering 29 percent of Cal State Fullerton's enrollment is Latino, the issues discussed at the four-day conference, such as the dearth of Latino faculty/administrators on campus, the crisis in Latino preparation for college, AB 540 students and the Master Plan, carry weight over the future of the school.

Somewhere on Cal State Fullerton, amid cascades of billowing smoke and ash emanating from nearby fires, the ASI elections were run in late October and the winners were formalized. Joe Mirada, English literature major, can remember the fires but said he had no recollection of any election.

Gay men are more likely to be Left-handed than heterosexuals. Gay individuals are more likely than straight men to have the hair at the back of their head grow in a counterclockwise direction. These are just a few of the findings Cal State Fullerton professor Richard Lippa has discovered over past years while researching the differences among gay and straight men.

Senator Hillary Clinton (D - New York) would love to be Sheena Scypion's friend on Myspace but the 19-year-old business major has decided against adding the presidential candidate. Scypion did not vote in the 2006 elections, the first year she was eligible to vote.
