When I arrived in Spain earlier this semester, more than 6,000 miles away from the friendly confines of Nutwood Avenue and State College Boulevard, I had two weeks to find an apartment along with the rest of the participants in the International Programs (IP) study abroad program.

It was Mathew Nishi's 23rd birthday, June 16, 2003. He had a therapy session that day and he made a life-altering decision. It was the day he decided to go through with chest reconstruction surgery and make the transition from female to male (FTM). The next day he called the surgeon's office to schedule his pre-operation meeting for the 19th.

The city of Fullerton isn't playing any reindeer games when it comes to getting letters to Santa signed, sealed and delivered. The Fullerton Parks and Recreation Department has placed North Pole express mailboxes in the lobby of Fullerton City Hall, the Children's Library of the Fullerton Main Library, the Hunt Branch Library and at Independence Park.
