Every Monday night a group of Cal State Fullerton volunteers dedicate their time to strengthen the reading skills of underprivileged children at Project Read, a program focusing on promoting literacy among children living in a transitional home.
“Project Read works to promote literacy and provide mentors for these kids,” said Jo Laurista, a senior and psychology major who is one of the project’s directors.

Nearly 100 counselors from more than 25 local community colleges filled the Titan Student Union for the third annual Counselors Collaborating for Student Success Conference, hosted by the Academic Advisement Center (AAC) and the Office of University Outreach.

With two tournaments left in the spring semester, the Cal State Fullerton Debate Team has made a name for itself in the debate community nationwide by embracing unorthodox performance-based debate styles and focusing on the issues of the oppressed.
“We’re known as the terrorists of debate,” said Bryce Bridge, a sophomore psychology major on the team.

The National Debate Tournament, the final showdown of the 2007-2008 debate season and considered the most prestigious tournament, will be held at Cal State Fullerton March 28 – 31 with two CSUF student finalists debating in the competition.
Luis Magallon, a senior philosophy major, and Caitlin Gray, a sophomore double majoring in philosophy and business, qualified for the NDT and will represent CSUF’s Debate Team in the tournament.

The Fullerton Market will reopen after its winter vacation on April 3rd in downtown Fullerton, offering fresh produce, arts, crafts, food and entertainment for all ages.
The market begins at 4 p.m. every Thursday through Oct. 16 and runs until 8:30 p.m. with free admission.

Here is an introduction to Journalism 101 for dummies: News stories are nothing without sources because sources tell the story.
Without them, reporters would be little more than fiction writers.
Fledgling reporters are often dismayed to see stories trashed on the newsroom floor for a lack of sufficient sources.

Dozens of children put their pedals to the pavement Saturday morning during Cal State Fullerton Children’s Center’s annual Trike-A-Thon fundraiser.
“This event is really unique from our other ones because it focuses on the children and their parents,” said CSUF graduate and Children’s Center instructor Stacy Wong of the annual spring event.

Business-related clubs and organizations worked together to host Business Week, a four-day event that runs through Thursday.
It will feature an invitation-only luncheon with donor Steven G. Mihaylo as well as workshops, guest speakers and a job fair open to all Cal State Fullerton students.
