On the road again, can’t wait to head out on the road again.

Well, that’s not exactly what the Cal State Fullerton men’s basketball team is saying.

But the Titans will be heading out on the road again for the second time this season.

This time however, the Titans have to leave the sunny, warm climate of California and travel to the lone star state of Texas to play two games before coming back and playing one more road game in San Diego.

This week, the team will travel more than 1,595 miles to compete against two predetermined foes in the inaugural Etech Lumberjack Classic at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas.

The Titans will kick-off the four-team tournament against the University of Central Arkansas at 5:15 p.m. (CST) on Friday.

UCA (1-5), which has lost five straight games after winning its season-opener, hopes to bounce back from their current woes with the help of their leading scorer Chris Poellniz, who is averaging 15 points per game.

On the other hand, the Titans (3-0) are coming off a huge come-from-behind victory over New Mexico State, 84-73.

Despite a 10-day layoff, the Titans seem poised to add to their three-game winning streak at the tournament, which will also feature Southern University.

Aaron Thompson, who is averaging 18 points per game, will lead CSUF in the Titans’ first out-of-state road trip of the season.

In the second game, the Titans will face host Stephen F. Austin at 7:15 p.m. (CST) on Saturday.

SFA (3-2) is currently on a two-game winning streak, and is led by Eddie Williams, who is averaging 17.8 points per game.

Williams, whose season is highlighted so far by a 24-point effort in SFA’s 79-68 victory over Jackson State on Tuesday, seems to pose the biggest threat for the Titans.

Yet, the Titans will need to have players such as Jacques Streeter, who is averaging 13 points per game, play a lot of minutes if they want to return to California with an undefeated record.

In the Titans’ only road game so far this season, CSUF relied on their starting five of Thompson, Streeter, Gerard Anderson, Jer’Vaughn Johnson and Bryce Webster for most of the points in the 68-65 double-overtime victory over UCLA.

After the weekend tourney, the Titans have to return to the sunshine state and ready themselves to play at San Diego State on Dec. 9 in a non-conference match.

CSUF will then host Occidental on Dec. 12 before heading out on the road again.
